The cure for mental trauma…

Can you file workers comp for mental trauma?

I just watched Dancing with the Stars to "pull for the team"…

…I'm salaried so I can't bill for it…

…I'm also rather ashamed of what can get on prime time…

…Ugh…

New Product Line!

Given that today I have now heard people arguing that "you create reality" or "Truth is subjective" or other such asinine statements — one in a motivational speech, and the other ending up bringing up moon landing denial, I'm starting a new product line — The Subjective Reality Brick

It's simply a nice red brick stamped as such:

THIS BRICK IS A SUBJECTIVE REALITY YOU HAVE CREATED
NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR INJURY DUE TO SUBJECTIVE REALITIES

Rebellion

O my God and my true Strength! How is it, Lord, that we are cowards in everything save in opposing Thee? To this the children of Adam devote all their energies. Were not reason so blind, the combined energies of all men put together would not suffice to make them bold enough to take up arms against their Creator and maintain a continual warfare against One who in a moment could plunge them into the depths. But because reason is blind, they act like madmen courting death, for they imagine that this death will bring them new life: they act, in short, like people bereft of reason.

Just When You Think You've Heard it All.........

Usually when you come across an article about a breast feeding mom it tends to be something either complaining about or supporting public breast feeding. I'm a breast feeding mom myself. These things interest me. This article http://www.whiotv.com/news/18813161/detail.html really hurt my head though. Women that choose to breast feed do it for their child. I know I do. This woman was breast feeding while driving and talking on the cell phone. For the record she sees nothing wrong with this.

Religion is practically worse than useless…

Note that the emphasis is on practically. It's good to remember that from a practical, atheistic point of view true religion is a pretty useless thing. Therefore when we try to argue with people about the value of Christianity it's good to remember that. For someone who doesn't believe in God, the idea of willingly dying to your own desires — all your own desires, not mortifying yourself for some temporal goal, but something they can not see — is madness to them. Father Dwight Longenecker has a great post on this point:

Sophia Maria Bernadette is here…

She arrived Tuesday at 8:50AM! We're all happy and healthy, if not a bit tired and delirious. We were discharged from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, and everything looks great so far!

Oh yeah…

And Sophia should be making her grand debut tonight! We're at the hospital waiting for her to come out!

Great Talk from Archbishop Chaput

It is such a blessing to have this man as our Bishop.

Via CNA

A few choice selections:

"I like clarity, and there’s a reason why," began the archbishop. "I think modern life, including life in the Church, suffers from a phony unwillingness to offend that poses as prudence and good manners, but too often turns out to be cowardice. Human beings owe each other respect and appropriate courtesy. But we also owe each other the truth -- which means candor."
